Internet Broadcasting is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to be part of Hearst Television’s dedicated development team at IB headquarters in Saint Paul, MN. Hearst Television and IB have a long-standing equity partnership with IB serving as the platform provider for Hearst Television’s web sites which provide local news, weather and information to TV markets across the country. The dedicated development team will be employed by IB but will take all direction on projects from Hearst. Projects may range from implementing new site designs, developing site functionality, integrating third party vendors, creating syndication feeds, to experimenting with innovative technologies and their uses in the web news space and related platforms.
The Project Manager is accountable for delivering quality projects on time, within budget and scope, to meet customer requirements and to the customer’s satisfaction. Will also be responsible for assigning project tasks to Hearst team members, and interacting regularly and closely with IB and with Hearst staff to ensure objectives are met for all projects. Will also serve as champion for prioritizing and communicating Hearst projects with IB.
Essential Functions:
- Perform the day-to-day management of a project team, including managing project priorities, objectives, deliverables and issues across various departments within Internet Broadcasting to meet Hearst Station requirements.
- Identify, define and document projects per customer requests, involving all needed parties to finalize project specifications and required outcomes.
- Document and continuously improve IB’s standard project management methodology, including processes and tools, to benefit both IB and Hearst Stations.
- Develop and execute a monitoring program to ensure that project deliverables are being met on time and within scope. Create and manage a reporting process to monitor potential project issues and conflicts. Develop a process to resolve identified issues.
- Develop and implement a communication procedure for providing regular projects status reports and updates to all direct stakeholders and to other members of the IB and Hearst Station management teams as appropriate.
Qualifications & Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities) Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.
- Minimum 1-3 years of project management experience, including internet/web applications and content projects. Familiarity with web publishing, e.g. content management systems, page templating languages and UI practices.
- Understanding of and passion for Agile or iterative project management methodologies, e.g. Scrum, XP, RUP, Evo.
- Must be a self-starter and proactive in issue identification and resolution.
- Must have outstanding written, verbal, listening and presentation skills.
- Hands-on experience with tools for project, risk, issue and resource management.
- Must have intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Project, in addition to basic proficiency with MS Office suite including Microsoft Visio.
- Strong organizational skills, high attention to detail, focus on accuracy.
- Strong sense of urgency, customer orientation.
- Ability to develop strong professional relationships. Including the ability to communicate with individuals at all levels of an organization and to unify and motivate teams to deliver results.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple priorities with frequent interruptions.
- Must be able to work independently, be reliable, and take initiative.
