Nashville Predators veteran defenseman Hal Gill declared that he will not play in Friday's Game 2 of the Western Conference quarterfinal series versus the Detroit Red Wings.

Gill is nursing a lower body injury which ultimately kept him out of Game 1 on Wednesday, which was won by the Predators.

The veteran blue-liner was injured after blocking a shot Sheldon Souray's shot in a victory over Dallas on April 5.

Gill, who played in his 1,000th NHL game earlier in the campaign, has collected one goal, 12 assists and 37 penalty minutes this season.
